AL2
The AL2 is an instrument for professionals. Graduated to ±90° including a percent scale, it is 160mm long and more robust than the AL1. It comes with a strong leather belt pouch and a shoulder strap.

Abney levels
Abney levels can be used to either site an angle (and calculate height), or set out a pre-set angle. To operate, site through the abney tube. A 45° mirror in the tube directs part of the line of site to a level bubble attached to a graduated arc. The operator simply sights a target, and moves the bubble lever until the bubble is centered in the viewfinder. The operator can then remove the instrument from the eye, and read the vertical angle.
