125mm Abney Level with Case (5")

AL1 level
This level is graduated to ±90°, and includes a percent scale. It has a flat base and square brass tube 125mm long. It also comes with a carrying case with a belt loop and snap lock.


Abney levels
Abney levels can be used to either site an angle (and calculate height), or set out a pre-set angle. To operate, site through the abney tube. A 45° mirror in the tube directs part of the line of site to a level bubble attached to a graduated arc. The operator simply sights a target, and moves the bubble lever until the bubble is centered in the viewfinder. The operator can then remove the instrument from the eye, and read the vertical angle.
