AL3 level
Both degrees and percentage are shown on an aluminium arc. This level features a five-times magnification objective lens with cross-hairs, a 200mm tube, a vernier scale measuring to 10 minutes of arc with a lock, a carrying case with a shoulder strap, and a belt loop. A very precise unit!


Abney levels
Abney levels can be used to either site an angle (and calculate height), or set out a pre-set angle. To operate, site through the abney tube. A 45° mirror in the tube directs part of the line of site to a level bubble attached to a graduated arc. The operator simply sights a target, and moves the bubble lever until the bubble is centered in the viewfinder. The operator can then remove the instrument from the eye, and read the vertical angle.
